Thanks to SoftSoap, parents now have a video to influence children to wash their hands and "Pump the Pump" to fight germ contamination.
Share your tips for getting your kids excited to wash their hands on our Facebook page.
1) Getting a solid eight hours of sleep a night sounds great, but unfortunately for us and for our kids its a rare occurrence. In THIS episode Paige and Gretchen meet with Kim West, the Sleep Lady, and discuss the benefits of getting a good night sleep. If you have tips and tricks of your own please visit our Facebook page and share! This episode is sponsored by Chicco. Visit Chicco’s website today to view their premier baby products.
2) Bullying has always been an issue with children, and unfortunately with the continues rise in social networking bullies are now invading your home as well as the school yard. According to the National Crime Prevention Council, “Cyberbullying” is a problem that affects almost half of all American teens. In THIS episode Paige and Gretchen discuss the hardships of Cyberbullying as well as what parents can do to prevent it. For more on Cyberbullying and Internet safety visit the Family Online Safety Institute website. Also check out their new video “Go Figure” which gives stats on Internet usage for kids and teens. If you have any information that you would like to share with us, please visit our Facebook page and leave a comment on our wall. We love to hear from you!
3) One in six women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime and 68% of those victims are assaulted by someone they know. In this episode Paige and Gretchen speak with Daisy Whitney, author and host of the New Media Minute, about her new book which addresses the topic of date rape. In Daisy’s book, “The Mockingbirds,” her lead character Alex is date raped by a fellow classmate, but she still finds the courage to stand up for herself and fights back against her attacker. We found the book inspirational and an overall great read. If you have a chance to read “The Mockingbirds” please do so and then visit our Facebook page to tell us what you think. Go HERE for our interview with the author!
4) Do you have tons of old family videos that you have no idea what to do with? Join the club! In THIS episode we invited Tech Guru and Mom, Cat Lambson, to talk with us about some new digital ways we can have fun with our family videos.
5) November is National Adoption Awareness Month! Our good friend and mother of two beautiful boys who were adopted, Lindsey Redfern, joins me today to talk about adoption in the US. The environment is clearly changing, but the need still remains high. With over 100,000 children in foster care, we need more people to consider adoption! Lindsey has become quite an advocate for adoption and shares some great insights with us. You can find out more information at adoption.com or by reading Lindsey’s blog The R House. Many thanks to Lindsey for joining MommyCast today!
